Liquid I.V., the #1 powdered hydration brand in America, is proud to announce a renewed investment of $300,000 to Surge for Water, a global women-led, community-driven nonprofit delivering sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) solutions. Building on the success of their first partnership in 2025, this continued collaboration will further expand access to safe water for students, teachers, and families in Sumba Tengah, Indonesia.
During the first year of the partnership, Surge for Water implemented water solutions across 81 schools in Sumba Tengah, installing 239 locally produced water purification filters, constructing 31 rainwater harvesting systems, and drilling four motorized wells. These efforts brought clean water to 12,751 people, including nearly 9,000 students.
This renewed partnership will support the continued implementation and long-term sustainability of water access solutions across Sumba. Through this partnership, Surge will reach 50 additional schools by constructing 41 rainwater harvesting systems, drilling nine motorized wells, and installing 84 locally produced water purification filters. Through these solutions, an estimated 6,500 students, teachers, and community members will have reliable access to clean water.

Working with community-based organization YLRA, Surge will also conduct training programs for schools and community members on the maintenance and management of water systems, strengthening local ownership and ensuring long-term sustainability. By working closely with local partners and community leaders, the initiative prioritizes local capacity strengthening and women’s leadership to ensure that water solutions are maintained and managed at the community level.

Sumba Tengah, located in East Nusa Tenggara Province, faces significant challenges related to water scarcity, poverty, and limited infrastructure. Long dry seasons and difficult terrain make reliable water access a persistent challenge for schools and communities. By investing in locally appropriate infrastructure, such as rainwater harvesting systems, motorized wells, and water filters, Surge and Liquid I.V. are helping communities develop sustainable solutions tailored to their environment.
